• Germany Proposes Massive Fines For Social Media Hate Posts
  • Social networks like Facebook or Twitter could face fines of up to €50 million in Germany if they fail to remove hate speech or libel quickly enough
    • Facebook – Only 33% were deleted within 24 hours of the complaint
    • Twitter, only one message in 100 was deleted – and none within 24 hours
    • YouTube fared rather better, taking down 90% of reported criminal posts, 82% within 24 hours
  • AT&T and Verizon pull ads from Google and YouTube over hate speech
    • Deeply concerned that our ads may have appeared alongside YouTube content promoting terrorism and hate
    • Google is now being pressured through a full-scale boycott to distance itself from hate speech and repair the image of its most lucrative ad platform
